"Grove Gatherings" Coffeehouses at Murray Grove Retreat and Conference Center

• Murray Grove Retreat and Conference Center offers "Grove Gatherings", monthly coffeehouses featuring live entertainment in a living-room like environment. Our February 9TH coffeehouse features two fabulous musician's! Valerie Vaughn, local singer/songwriter well known in Jersey for her compositions on N.J. history and folklore, will sing her collection of love-songs. Tom Brown, saxophonist extraordinaire, with over 30 years of professional experience and a degree in Jazz Performance, will be playing some old time favorites. Open to the public, our cozy venue offers a comfortable space for both performers and audience.  A $10.00 donation is requested to support the musician's and program. The doors open at 6:30,  music is from 7 pm to 9pm. Folks are encouraged to bring their favorite appetizer or dessert to share (BYOB optional). We are located 15 minutes south of Toms River, right off Rt.9.

March 9 features Bram Taylor, popular British folk singer, with a large repertoire of traditioal songs, performed on acoustic guitar and concertina. (Note: Murray Grove has booked a week long, silent, Zen Buddhist Retreat this particular week, and our coffeehouses are certainly not quiet events. (-:    Therefore, we are extremely grateful that the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ocean County has agreed to host this particular coffeehouse. They are conveniently located at 734 Rt. 37 West, Toms River, NJ , (just 1.7 miles west of the parkway), and are a very welcoming congregation.

April 13 features Pete Wagula, Bottleneck Guitarist, creating live loops to fill the room with sound and myriad imageries, the backdrop for his bottleneck guitar. Back by popular demand, join Pete and his guitar students for a special night of music and sharing.

Purposely simple and comfortable, we are open to the public year round to book;  group retreats, family reunions, school groups, congregational retreats (all religions), individual retreats, work/social gatherings, and weddings.
