Work On Condos Near Little Silver Train Station Begins

Construction has been on hold for years.

By Christopher Sheldon

The construction of 39 condominium units at the corner of Eastview Avenue and Oceanport Avenue in Little Silver has begun after several years of meetings and setbacks.

Thirty-nine units will be built on the lot, which was rezoned to allow the construction of condos nearly six years ago, Little Silver Mayor Robert Neff said.

Neff said the condos were originally going to be age-restricted, but that a law passed by former Governor Jon Corzine allowed the builders to come back to the borough to have the age restriction lifted.

Neff said a portion of the condos have been designated for low-to-moderate income housing.

The construction company, Kalian Builders, began clearing trees on the property last week but will try to preserve as many trees as possible, Neff said.

He said the wetlands on the property were also deeded back to the borough.
