Red Bank Resident's Friend In Need of Medical Bill Help

The 27-year-old girl is recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury.

Red Bank resident Mike Lazar is looking to help fund cognitive therapy sessions for his friend, Carla Baum, 27, who suffered Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) after she was involved in a car accident.

"Carla left her home state of New Jersey to further her education and begin a cardiology internship," Lazar said. "Shortly after the start of her new internship in Florida, she was involved in a serious car accident. The accident forced her into ICU to fight for her life for nearly a month."

Lazar has now taken to the fundraising web site, GoFundMe, and set a goal of $2,000 to help her give Baum the care she needs.

Lazar said her insurance has been maxed out and that her family is already facing "overwhelming" medical expenses.

"Carla has come a long way and cognitive therapy is an important final key to her recovery," he said. "Your donation will be used for her cognitive therapy sessions and you will help Carla think and see clearly again. Funding will be forwarded to her mother and father who are overseeing her medical condition."
