Oceanport Salutes Its Veterans

By Christopher Sheldon

Oceanport officials and retired Lt. Col. Paul Hester, a borough resident, gathered today for a ceremony to honor veterans.

"The beauty of Veterans Day is how it touches us all," Hester said. "We must realize that these men and women fought for what we have and would not want us to remember in sadness."

The ceremony was held at the front steps of Oceanport Borough Hall where Veterans Day essays written by students were read and the names of borough residents who fought and died were recited.

The ceremony concluded with borugh officials, military members and families laying wreaths at several memorials around borough hall.
