Oceanport Rec Coordinator Retires and Thanks Community

Foligno served Borough for seven years, left to take job at active adult community in Farmingdale.

Jim Foligno's seven years of making Oceanport a fun place to live as the Borough's Recreation Coordinator came to a close on Oct. 31, when he stepped down to accept a position as the Lifestyle Director at the Equestra at Colts Neck Crossings Active Adult Community in Farmingdale.

Foligno and the Parks and Recreation Committee have put together many successful activities and events from 2004 to 2011, but he said the very first , added about four years ago, would have to be his favorite.

"I could not believe the turnout we had and continue to have," said Foligno. "We outgrew the Firehouse and thanks to Mr. Orefice, Superintendent of Schools, we have moved the party to ."

Other activities Foligno said he will fondly remember include Action Camp, the killer cocada wasps at the Community Center, pool days, and the end of camp carnival.

When he announced his retirement on the Oceanport Residents Facebook page, Foligno said he appreciated the opportunity he had been given by the Borough and that he's met many wonderful people who he will miss.

"I've enjoyed these past seven years working for the residents of Oceanport," Foligno said in an e-mail. "I want to thank the people that have helped me through the years, especially Borough Administrator Kim Jungfer, Jean Smith and Pat Welsh at as well as the entire Oceanport Public Works staff."

Foligno said he could not have done anything without the assistance of the Recreation Committee, both past and present members, and offered a special thank you to Chairperson Sheri Amador and Vice-Chairperson Mike Minervini.

He signed off with gratitude and well wishes, saying "Thanks again Oceanport! All the best!"
