Little Silver Thanks Its Coaches [VIDEO]

The fourth annual Coaches Appreciation Dinner on Friday celebrated volunteers who organize and run the borough's recreation leagues.

They teach our kids things like the ins and outs of sliding and the lowdown on offsides, and many times foot the bill for pizza or ice cream for the team. They are the men and women that volunteer to coach Little Silver recreation sports teams and they were recognized Friday night at the fourth annual Coaches Appreciation Dinner.

The event, held at the firehouse with food prepared by Red Bank Regional culinary students (via Chef Peter Roskowinski), was organized and funded by the Little Silver Recreation Foundation.

Volunteers Betty Ann Berube and Kelly Senkeleski were singled out at this year's event for their service to the borough's recreation program.

The evening also included a remembrance of long-time Little Silver volunteer Jon Bitman, who lost his battle to cancer last year, with some heckling of Recreation Director Doug Glassmacher, who loves a microphone. Councilmen Dan O'Hern and Don Galante were willing to to tap their watches and tell Glassmacher he had run out of time, as Bitman would like to do.
