Sickles Market Announces Three “On the Road Tours” For April

For more than 100 years, customers of Sickles Market have come to rely on the gourmet food market and garden center for quality products from near and far. Now, Sickles is proud to offer that same one-of-a-kind experience with its “On The Road Tours” – a behind-the-scenes, culinary and garden excursion to culinary and horticultural destinations led by experts from Sickles Market.

 

April 10, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Sickles Market “On the Road Tour” New York Botanical Garden $130 per person - Join Sickles On The Road to see this annual spectacular at the New York Botanical Garden. This year’s guest designer is Patrick Blanc, famed French botanist, creator of Vertical Gardens, and artist.

April 19, 2012, 7:45 a.m. Sharp – 6 p.m. Sickles Market “On the Road Tour” Winterthur and Longwood Gardens in the Brandywine district of Pennsylvania. $155 per person. Winterthur is considered America’s finest naturalistic gardens and in spring, this estate is a riot of color!  Blooms are everywhere. Designed for a succession of blooms from late January to November, this garden tour is pure delight. There is the option for a house tour, exploring the exquisite home of Henry F. du Pont.  The 175 rooms, many of them with historical architecture, are furnished with his outstanding collection of antiques and objects added since his death. These masterfully designed spaces promise to inspire, enlighten, and delight.

Next stop is for lunch and an afternoon of exploration of Longwood, America’s favorite formal garden in full spring bloom. Longwood Gardens Spring Blooms are world famous and this is your chance to see the spectacle for yourself! At Longwood, we also have the special treat of a private Insiders Tour of the Italian Water Garden with a Longwood Docent.

 

April 24, 2012 – 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Sickles Market “On the Road Tour”  Di Bruno Bros in Philadelphia  $150 - Sickles Market’s favorite gourmet retailers and cheese stores, Di Bruno Bros is a family business  founded in 1939 in the Italian Market. Today, the store is an award winning gourmet retailer with 4 locations in Philadelphia, including the original Italian Market store and their outstanding destination store at Rittenhouse Square – we will be visiting both stores on our tour.

 This will be a very memorable culinary tour! Hosted by Emilio Mignucci, Di Bruno  Bros’ owner we will get an authentic behind the scenes look at a gourmet retail store and their products.
