The Branchport Avenue Bridge, which connects Long Branch and Oceanport, will be closed in April as it undergoes repairs.
The county’s Department of Public Works and Engineering is overseeing the project, which will include repairs to the existing bridge deck. Miscellaneous deck, sidewalk and curb repairs and the construction of a latex-modified concrete overlay on existing bridge deck will also be included in the project.
This Branchport Avenue project is expected to be substantially complete by Memorial Day weekend, according to a release from the county.
In the area of the bridge, the roadway will be closed to vehicular traffic, but open to pedestrian traffic.
The project is part of a $2.1 million roadwork contract which also includes the rehabilitation of Newman Springs Road Bridge.
The state’s Annual Transportation Trust Fund is providing the funding for the project.
