Students Kick-Off "Week of Respect"

On Friday October 4th, the Red Bank Catholic student body “kicked-off” their upcoming Week of Respect at their varsity football game against Raritan High School.  All students who wished to help plan the week’s events were encouraged to join the Planning Committee, which also came up with the theme: “Respect Begins at Home, Our Home, Home of the Caseys.”  To generate awareness, the football players and cheerleaders wore green armbands adorned with a shamrock reading “RESPECT,”  students sold self-respect T-shirts, the cheerleaders performed a routine to the songs “You’re Amazing” and “Respect,” and the football team unveiled the school banner bearing the Week of Respect theme.

Moderator for the Week of Respect, Mrs. Kathleen Booth, always enjoys working with students on this type of project.  “This Week of Respect is especially important because it is not one particular group or club running the event.  Everyone was invited to help plan. Students with many varying interests and backgrounds came together to listen to each other’s ideas, to work together to plan and are now continuing to have so much fun together being involved in this.  They are a shining example of what this week is all about.”

During the week of October 7th-11th, the committee will oversee the events planned for each day which are meant to continue to spread awareness of how important it is to have self-respect, and respect for others. Mrs. Booth notes that the committee “plans to carry this important message throughout the school year, and will have different events and activities to keep this message alive.”
