RBC Hosts Area Dancers for Heart Awareness Month

In honor of Heart Awareness Month, Red Bank Catholic’s Dance “Company” recently hosted “The Heart Show, ”an evening of dance and other performances featuring dancers from ten area studios.  As RBC Performing Arts Director Stacy Bascom notes, the evening was “an opportunity to help build a community of dance, to bring awareness about heart disease and to work together to raise funds to help those who suffer from it.”  The music, choreography and monologues beautifully captured the emotions and struggles of people affected by heart disease and of those who love them.

Performing with RBC’s Dance Company were dancers from Kathryn Barnett School of Dance, Allegro, Breaking Waves Dance Academy, Colts Neck Dance, Dance Factory, Dance Plus, Derling Dance Arts, L.A. Dance Center of the Arts, Movement Dance Academy and Shoreline Dance Academy.

The “Heart Show” raised over $2,300 to donate to heart disease research.  Mrs. Bascom reflects that “while working on this project, I was reminded of the famous Henry Ford quote: ‘Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is a process, working together is a success.’ It was such a wonderful experience for all of the dancers. They had an opportunity to collaborate and learn that they can use their talent and passion for dance to really make a positive difference in someone else’s life.”
