Red Bank Catholic has announced its partnership with Seton Hall University and Brookdale Community College to offer qualified sophomores, juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credits for over ten courses. Credits awarded by Seton Hall are transferrable to over 200 colleges nationwide including Rutgers, UCLA, Georgetown, Boston University, Duke and U Penn. The program gives students the option to get a head start and potentially save up to a semester or two of college time and cost. According to RBC dual enrollment program coordinator Dr. Joseph Molitoris, “this program effectively allows a ‘college’ to exist within the high school curriculum.”
Red Bank Catholic faculty members who have a Masters or PhD in their disciplines go through a certification process by the college or university partner to become approved as adjunct professors. Currently RBC has over 20 qualified faculty members in disciplines including math, physics, computer science, English, theology, biology, history, business/finance, journalism, French, art and physical education. Course instructors submit their syllabus for approval by the college or university partner and students have access to the college’s resources while they are taking the course.
To receive the college credit, students pay a nominal registration fee and must earn a minimum grade in the class. Dr. Molitoris points out that “by successfully completing 5-10 of the approved courses, the potential college cost savings is $20,000 – 40,000.”

“We are very happy to announce the creation of our dual enrollment program. At RBC we continually explore new ways to offer our students the highest quality education and as many opportunities as possible for them to make the most of their time here,” notes RBC principal Robert Abatemarco. He adds, “part of our mission is to meet the needs of students and their families, and as everyone knows, the cost of a college education is daunting to most people. The dual enrollment program allows us help students obtain their advanced degrees at a significantly lower cost.”
