Celebrating 125 Years of Service of the Sisters of Mercy

On Sunday, September 22nd, the St. James and Red Bank Catholic community will commemorate and celebrate 125 years of service of the Sisters of Mercy.

In 1888 three Sisters of Mercy, Sr. Scholastica, Sr. Mary Dolores and Sr. Marcella arrived from the motherhouse in Bordentown to administer to a small, growing Catholic School in Red Bank.  That school became St. James Elementary and Red Bank Catholic High Schools. The Sisters of Mercy have served those schools steadfastly ever since. The schools stand as a testament to the strength, the vision, the commitment and dedication to all the Sisters of Mercy.

All are invited to join in the celebration. There will be a Mass in honor of the Sisters at 12:00 at St. James Church, followed by a reception in the St. James Elementary School cafeteria.
