Movie Review - "Django Unchained"

MOVIE REVIEW - "DJANGO UNCHAINED"

by David Prown

"Django Unchained" has gotten some fabulous reviews from both critics and fans alike...very highly rated.

Long film, 165 minutes, actually moves along real well. Jamie Foxx is a prime time actor but Christopher Waltz has a terrific role (that is sure to get an Oscar nomination). And Samuel Jackson's role (and make up) is really worth the price of admission.

I didn't know this was a Quentin Tarantino film and spectacularly gruesome scenes
are his trademark. I had my eyes closed plenty during this flick and didn't fall asleep at all.

The schmaltzie (is that a word?) soundtrack is utterly fantastic and so much fun.

Set by just prior to the Civil War where slavery and ruthless abuse of African
Americans were the theme of the day...in the south. The most interesting friendship and business relationship between Foxx and Waltz gets this film off to a rousing start.

Things slow a bit when Leonardo DiCaprio enters (but not much). He plays a
perfect powerful, hard, ruthless, cunning, charismatic plantation owner. And
his buddy, Samuel L. Jackson, make quite a duo as well.

This movie is really getting some "movie legs" and will do in the box office.

Really folks, don't bring anyone under 17. Lots of visually brutal and cruel
scenes. Most enjoyable but not an award winner unto itself.
