Little Silver Fire Department During Hurricane Sandy

Little Silver, as were many places in Monmouth County, was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.  Much of our town sustained flood damage from the Shrewsbury River's rising storm surge.  Over 250 homes were affected with many families displaced.

Firefighters staffed the firehouse for approximately 2 weeks, 24 hours a day, responding to nearly 90 emergency incidents.  Some of the incidents included 2 structure fires, water rescues, and many carbon monoxide incidents.  Firefighters also responded to area municpalities to provide assistance.

We would like to thank all the residents for your support throughout the storm from cooking to providing essentials for the crews as well as families that came from all over the country to donate items.  We would also like to thank the Kingwood Fire Department from Hunterdon County for providing relief for our crews.  We would also like to thank Mayor Neff and the Borough Council for your support.  Lastly, thanks to all the members that helped protect lives and property in Little Silver.
