Why Did the Turtle Cross the Road? To Get to Little Silver!
A big turtle was trying to cross Prospect Avenue on Friday afternoon and a reader shares pictures of its rescue.
Little Silver resident Nora Monaghan shared the following with Patch:
"I witnessed the rescue of an "ancient" muddy turtle on Prospect Avenue around 1 p.m. on Friday. The turtle was in the middle of the street at first, then a landscaper carried him back to the nature trail water. Isn't he cute?"
Then around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, I was driving down Point Road and there was a bunch of boys down in the creek looking at some very large turtles (more than one)."
Can any readers fill us in on the type of turtle Nora saw and what might inspire him to try to cross a busy street?

we recently did the same with a painted turtle we saved crossing just before Cross st and Woodbine. We also took him/her to the nature trail bridge.

I think it's very common that turtles and frogs will try to migrate to different bodies of water in times of high rain amounts which we have certainly had the past few weeks! The high moisture content in the soil helps to keep them cool in the process

I relocated a skunk from the south side of Branch Avenue to the north side, this morning..... kidding! The skunk crossed the road all by itself. I just did my best to avoid it while riding my bicycle.
