Water Distribution Continues Sunday

Both Middletown high schools and the Wolf Hill Recreation Area in Oceanport will serve as water distribution stations.

The Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management will continue distributing water on Sunday to residents affected by the regional water emergency.

A water main at the New Jersey American Water’s water treatment plant at the Swimming River Reservoir in Middletown failed on Friday at 12:45 p.m., leading to a temporary loss of water for some Middletown and Holmdel residents and a county-wide boil water advisory Saturday evening. The boil water alert was revised on Saturday morning to include 22 towns: Aberdeen, Allenhurst, Deal, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Highlands, Holmdel, Little Silver, Loch Arbor, Long Branch, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Neptune, Oceanport, Ocean Township, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury Borough, Shrewsbury Township Tinton Falls, and West Long Branch.

Three locations will open for water distribution on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The locations will remain open until the supply is depleted. There is a limit of one case of water per vehicle.

The locations are:

Roberta: According to a release from NJAWC, the bottled water supplier "ran into issues" this morning and was delayed restocking the three water stations. They expect all stations to be refilled with supplies by 10 a.m. Sunday and will distribute cases until 10 p.m.

Very unfair that I would have to drive from Aberdeen to recieve water. that is quite a distance from us in this heat. And with the price of gas and wear and tear on a car it is not worth it !

Aberdeen Homeowner,

I left from work, straight to the distribution site. The same thing occured to me then and I had to hit my forehead with my palm in disgust. About 2 gallons of gas with traffic and all.

Not like I won't be paying for this "free" water anyway. I hate to be cynical at this time, but Shop Rite & others will get their money back from us in some form.

They should distribute it to our doors.....just like they distribute our water bill ! Or they could at least do asnthe electric company did last year during the hurricane and allow us a daily voucher to pick it up from our local supermarket.

they could also let us submit the receipt for the water off out water bill. then they would not have to pay for their employees to be on the clock and pass the savings on to us. Most of us have bought our water at local stores anyway. Just let them cover the cost of the purchases.... to a certain limit of course.

To Aberdeen Township leaders.
What about getting some water to distribute in town, at least the seniors? Are we going to get the same support that we did when the hurricane knocked out power last year?

Publicola,

Yes, we do need a service for that. When I got home, I looked at my elderly neighbor's house, then looked at the case in my hand, and promptly marched up his stairs.
Unfortunately the one case limit may prevent a lot of people from doing just that.
