Wanted: New or Gently Used Books, CDs, DVDs, and Video Games
Saturday's 3rd Annual Little Silver Book Fair is accepting donations at various locations in the borough through Friday.

While plenty of books look great on a shelf and can be fantastic conversation starters, let's face it -- they're most useful when read, especially when they're resold for a great cause.
Through Friday, the Little Silver Business and Professional Association (LSBPA) is collecting new or gently used books, CDs, DVDs and video games at participating locations (listed below) for their 3rd Annual Book Fair, which will be held this Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Little Silver Woman's Club located at Church and Rumson Road.
Most items will be sold for $1 or $2 and proceeds will benefit ongoing LSBPA community-wide initiatives. Any unsold books will be donated to area schools and Bridge of Books.
LSBPA President (and manager of the Woman's Exchange) Lori Saybolt recently told Red Hot Magazine that she got the idea for the book fair while on vacation in Nantucket a few years ago. Inspired by a day at the Nantucket Street Fair which featured a massive book fair which "spoke to the heart of the community, raised money for a good cause, and made a lot of people happy," Saybolt decided to test the idea in her hometown of Little Silver, and it has been flourishing here ever since.
According to Red Hot, the 2009 book fair raised enough money for buy street banners for the lamp posts in Little Silver's business district, and in 2010, the book fair helped purchase a concrete bench for Memorial Park. The jury is is still out on how the LSBPA will use their 2011 profit, but the magazine hinted it may go toward holiday decorations for Little Silver's business district.
New or gently used books, CDs, DVDs and video games (no VHS tapes or textbooks) can be donated during normal business hours at the following locations through Friday:
