Third Bomb Threat Made at West Long Branch Shopping Center

Last two threats were unfounded

The West Long Branch Police are investigating yet another bomb threat at the Consumer Centre in the borough; the third in the last two weeks.

The Consumer Centre, at 310 Highway 36, has been evacuated as a precaution and emergency crews are conducting an investigation, according to a Nixle message from the West Long Branch Police.

A bomb threat was called in to a 911 operator on Sunday afternoon and another was made on Sunday, Feb. 10. Both times, a man said there was a bomb at Buy Buy Baby, one of the stores located in the Consumer Centre.

Both incidents were determined to be unfounded after police investigated the stores with bomb-sniffing dogs.

The West Long Branch Police say they are investigating the prior incidents to see if they are related.

"We are grateful for patience and cooperation during these types of incidents," the Nixle message states. "Investigations are underway into the prior two incidents and anyone with pertinent information is asked to call the West Long Branch Police Detective Bureau at 732-229-5000."
