Maple Place's Class of 2012 took the long walk to the stage Thursday night while proud friends and family jostled good naturedly to get a shot of their Charger graduate during the eighth grade commencement ceremony held in the school's gym.

Besides the usual "Pomp and Circumstance," the ceremony included presentations of a number of awards to graduating students. Oceanport PTO President Katie LaPorta announced that Evan Coffey received the valedictorian award and Alex Olsen was the class's salutatorian.
