Power Update for Oceanport, Little Silver on Thursday

Power has been restored for some Oceanport JCPL customers while more Little Silver residents are in the dark.

Oceanport residents may be beginning to see the light as of Thursday following Hurricane Sandy, according to JCPL.

Power has been restored to 37 percent of Oceanport homes Thursday morning, which is 1,495 of the borough's 2,367 JCPL customers. One hundred percent of customers were without power on Tuesday.

In Little Silver, the news is not as positive. One hundred percent of the borough's JCPL customers, about 2,652 homes, are without power Thursday morning. On Tuesday, 93 percent of customers were sitting in the dark.

I realize that there are many very serious issues around and this may sound a little selfish but someone has to ask the question - why does it seem Little Silver takes longer to get back up? Parts of Oceanport and Long Branch already have power. Last year there were LS neighborhoods out for 6 days for Irene, much longer than most.
