A vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 35 and Navesink River Road, Middletown Emergency Medical Services Public Information Officer Bob Pfleger confirmed.

The incident occurred Monday shortly before noon.

A medevac helicopter was initially called for the pedestrian but the extent of the injuries and whether the patient was ultimately transported via ambulance or medevac was not known.
