UPDATE: No Injuries After Car Flips on Port Au Peck [VIDEO]
A mother and her 10-year-old son were taken to the hospital following an accident in Oceanport Monday afternoon.
A woman and her 10-year-old son were taken to Riverview Medical Center on Monday after the SUV they were riding in was overturned following a collision with another vehicle on Monday in Oceanport.
The black Chrysler crossover and a silver station wagon collided at the intersection of Branchport Avenue and Port-au-Peck Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
The husband of the woman driving the SUV, who asked not to be identified, told Patch that he was on the phone with his son when the accident occurred. He said they had to crawl out the windows of the overturned vehicle after the car flipped onto its roof.
Officer Daniel Petrucelli told Patch at the scene that passengers in the SUV did not sustain serious injury. They were treated at the hospital and released around 8 p.m. Monday.
The mother and son, who live in Red Bank, remained sore and shaken up on Tuesday.

I wish they would check so many drivers continue to run red lights becase they are too busy talking.

I'd like to be clear that while talking on your phone while driving is not a good idea -- and illegal to boot -- there is no report of either driver using his or her cellphone at the time of Monday's accident.

Amy, it's not illegal to talk on your phone while driving. It's illegal to be holding the phone and talking while driving.

You are allowed to talk on your phone when driving...it's called hands free. It's difficult to prove texting at the exact second an accident occurs.
