Man Killed by Train in Red Bank Sunday Identified

Second person killed this month by a train in the borough.

The identity of the man killed Sunday morning as he was walking along the Front Street rail bridge in Red Bank was revealed late Monday morning by New Jersey Transit Spokeswoman Courtney Carroll.

Thomas Weeks was apparently walking along the bridge, which is accessible via Shrewsbury Avenue, when he was struck by a New York City-bound New Jersey Transit train at approximately 6:15 a.m. Sunday morning, Carroll said. Weeks, a borough resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Circumstances surrounding Weeks' death are currently unknown and remain under investigation. Carroll said it was not immediately known if the 29-year-old's death was intentional or an accident.

A little more than a week ago a 51-year-old borough man was struck and killed by a north-bound train in the area of Bergen Place. According to an engineer's report, Donald Cameron Jr., laid down on the track in front of the oncoming train in an apparent suicide.

How about a little sympathy to the train engineer who has to live with this the rest of his life! Tommie is gone, but the engineer will have to live with this forever
