Sign of the Times at Little Silver Bottle Shop

Signs went up at the downtown liquor store this week for the first time since they came down for a building renovation in 1986.

When the building at the corner of Church Street and Prospect Avenue was renovated in 1986, all signage for the two businesses within was removed for the face lift to be completed.

But while the sign above what's now Gianni's has hung atop the pizza spot for years, the space above the liquor store next store has remained empty for over 25 years.

All that changed this week when a cherry picker arrived to hoist the new sign over Little Silver Bottle Shop, which changed hands this summer.

"We're excited!" says owner and Little Silver resident Bill Kenney. "It's the first time in 27 years that we have a sign that indicates who we are and what we do."

Since Kenney took over in July, the shop has started to accept credit cards and has reshifted its focus towards wine and has begun hosting tastings to introduce customers to new varieties.

"It should help increase our visibility with consumers and it's certainly an indicator of the continued evolution of this business," Kenney says.

As long as the prices are competitive it should be successful.
