Changes in Teacher Lineup for Little Silver Schools
There have been a bunch of changes in who traditionally teaches what grade at Point Road and Markham next year.
Each summer, Little Silver parents (present company included) sit on the beach and speak — with authority — on the choices their little one has for teachers in the fall and what classroom they'd like to see that student end up in.
But this summer, that conversation has become a little tricky, as a number of teachers have been shifted into new grades — and even a new school — as administrators contend with a departing educator and shifting class populations.
The Little Silver Board of Education accepted the resignation of teacher Brad Millaway at its June meeting, which left an opening in the third grade, and a larger class was moving up to fifth grade requiring the return of a fifth teacher. Then there is the always-changing roster of teachers headed out to or returning from maternity leave.
So, as is often the challenge for school administrators, the annual teacher puzzle had some missing pieces.
According to Point Road Principal Dr. Pamela Albert Devine, here are some of the changes kids and parents can expect in September:
- Kathryn Fithian - returning from leave to Basic Skills Instructor
- Nicole Bbalo - Resource Center
- Rachael Kurnit - 3rd Grade
- Cara McGuigan - 3rd Grade
- Ryan Hance - 4th Grade
- Carol Anderson - 5th Grade
- Alyssa DelGuercio - 5th Grade
