Little Silver Police Salaries Approved for 2013

Two percent increases across the board are part of the three-year contract that expires at the end of next year.

 

The Little Silver Borough Council approved 2013 salaries for members of its police department at its Jan. 28 meeting.

The salaries, which represent a 2 percent increase across the board, are stipulated in the Little Silver Police Department's three-year contract that expires at the end of 2014.

Employees hired before January 1, 2011 will be compensated as follows:

Captain $115,030
Lieutenant $108,520
Sergeant $102,376
Police Officer (7yrs) $96,581
Police Officer $89,407
Police Officer $82,231
Police Officer $75,056
Police Officer $67,879
Police Officer $60,704
Police Officer $53,529
Police Officer $46,353
Police Officer $39,176

Employees hired after January 1, 2011 will be compensated as follows:

Captain $115,030
Lieutenant $108,520
Sergeant $102,376
Police Officer (9yrs) $96,581
Police Officer (8yrs) $90,676
Police Officer (7yrs) $84,954
Police Officer (6yrs) $79,232

This is only part of the story ......don't forget we just had the chief retire at a poultry pension of over 80K per year ,for 21 years of service .....just think if he lives another 25 years it will just cost us ...oops our kids another 2 million ...plus all the chief that will retire in between ....can you say unsustainably at best

I am not against public service employees being paid with public funds for a job well done. What I am against is the notion that there are duplicate services and hierarchies in all these small NJ municipalities. There really is no logical reason that Rumson, Fair Haven, Little SIlver, and Red Bank do not combine their Police forces and have a single Captain for that entire force. There is no safety justification or even a crime related justification for having so much duplication.

A raise in this environment is crazy. No wonder our taxes needed to be adjusted so high. I agree that combining the forces would generate a decent amount of saving. Call it the two rivers police force.
