Donovan's Reef. Exclusive beach clubs. Roads. Houses.

Gone.

Patch photographer Mark Vetrini captured the images of Sea Bright, NJ Friday, just days after Hurricane Sandy collided with the coast.

Perhaps no community suffered from the viciousness of this storm than this small seashore community, the same one that bears the brunt of every bad storm that comes to the Jersey Shore.

In 1992, after a terrible Nor'easter, Sea Bright was underwater. It came back. Perhaps the task is taller this time, and the town will change.

But it will come back.

After waiting several hours for an escort to the peninsula community, this is what Mark Vetrini saw.

These photos are just astonishingly sad to see. Sea Bright was as much a part of my childhood as Rumson was. It is heartbreaking to realize the difficulties you all must be going through. Please know that those of us who no longer live there are so very devastated by your great losses.

I've seen the same destruction in NC, FL, and AL, yet some keep building a few feet above sea level.

According to the assessment done, posted on the sea bright website. Water's Edge was assessed: EXTREME STRUCTURAL DAMAGE – NOT HABITABLE AND NO ENTRY. I assume you have a wedding booked there. I have mine booked for July 7th, 2013.

i am broken hearted watching the devastation unfold. all of us who grew up in the area have salt water in our veins and the strength of the atlantic ocean in our spirits.
i believe that together, the resourceful and resiliant folks will recreate Sea Bright to be, once again, bright and brilliant by the sea, let's start with a holiday fund raising event on the beach...Dana Thompson Weston, Vermont

My sister works for the town and was tasked with taking pictures to document the damages for the town property the day after the storm. She is a amateur photographer and took some heartwrenching pics of which I made a video with a very appropriate soundtrack. You can see them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXEXcd4ZjPc The devastation is something I thought I would never see in my life and having grownup and lived in SB until I was 30 that's saying something.

So many locals are without housing. Several local Realtors are operating on a VOLUNTEER basis out of Bingham Hall in Rumson trying to place displaced families in short-term rentals.

Do you have a viable short-term rental property for a displaced family? Perhaps you know of one? Please think about any vacant homes in your neighborhood that are NOT listed with a Realtor. (Vacation type homes that are not occupied on a regular basis, condos/townhomes, carriage homes). We DO already have access to homes that are listed with a Realtor but they are renting quickly!

If you have OR know of viable housing options, please email this volunteer group at: tworiverhomesneeded@yahoo.com with whatever information you have or if you have direct access to a homeowner of a viable home, please forward that email address on to them and/or my cell phone number. Needy families are looking for 2-6 month short-term rental properties. Families with dogs are having a particularly difficult time.

If you have any questions or need clarification, please email the group. Thank you!

Linda, are you just looking for empty homes. I have room in my home for a small family the whole down stairs is empty Im sur i can set something up for small family to use. I live in the Atlantic Highlands. If they have a dog that would be fine as long as the dog is not agressive because I have a dog to but she is great with children and other dogs.
Thanks Debbie

Hi Debbie
Your situation sounds perfect. There are still so many displaced - trying to figure out where to go and how to afford it. If you could please go on to the website and fill out the "Add a rental" form, that would be the best way to get the details to me. Some folks are just offering up housing (not necessarily "rental"). Many creative ideas are have come out of this disaster. Thanks again! www.stormsandyhomes.com

Had wedding planned for June 2013 at Merrimakers. Due to Sandy that's no longer possible. I've been trying to get my deposit back to no avail. Has anyone gotten their money back? I need help.

We're still waiting for our deposit back as well. Still being told they're waiting for the insurance money! Very disappointing business practice!
