The Cancer Ball is the charity and social event of the year in the Rumson area.

This year, the event, dubbed Lost City of Atlantis, was held at the Rumson estate of George and Lori Hall, who hosted 600 guests on their waterfront grounds. Honoring 45 years of success with the ball, the June 9 evening featured both live and silent auctions during cocktails, gourmet dining, a raffle drawing and dancing.

Since 2000, the Cancer Ball has raised roughly $15 million for the fight against cancer. Proceeds from the ball fund research grants and help support American Cancer Society programs and services for cancer patients and their families.

In the past year, the Jersey Shore region of the Society has provided services to 3,417 of the newly-diagnosed cancer patients in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Patients and families can access help any time of the day or night by calling 1-800-227-2345 or online at www.cancer.org.
