Gusty wind couldn't detract from the thrill of watching thoroughbreds fly past the picnic area at Monmouth Park on Saturday where about 300 members of the Red Bank Regional community gathered for the education foundation's annual Day at the Races.

The event, which was sold out according to RBREF member Kathleen Brown, brought together families, local officials and educators to raise money to bring technology to the high school.

Aside from friendly betting on the ponies, organizers held a 50/50 — won by Little Silver resident Carol Johnson — and a silent auction for seats in a Parterre box and a sponsored race, donated by Monmouth Park and won by Rick Hough.
