Back to School Fundraiser Targets Local Schools

Only 33 days left to vote for your school to receive up to $10,000 in gift cards through Target's back to school promotion.

Raising money for schools is an ongoing chore: there are cupcakes to bake, car washes to organize and raffle tickets to sell. So when Target offers schools the opportunity to earn up to $10,000 by simply clicking a button, it can seem hard to resist.

Click over to the Oceanport PTO's Facebook page and you will find parents trying to drum up votes in the Give With Target promotion that runs through Sept. 8.

According to the megastore's website, voters simply choose a K-12 school in their list of eligible schools and vote for it weekly through Sept. 8 or when $2.5 million in Target GiftCards have been awarded, whichever occurs first. A school will receive a $25 Target GiftCard for every 25 votes received during the promotion period; up to a maximum of $10,000 in gift cards.

So far, voters have earned almost three gift cards for Oceanport's Wolf Hill School.

All the other local schools can be found on Target's site to vote for: Point Road, Markham Place, Wolf Hill, Maple Place, Holy Cross, St. James, Red Bank Catholic, Shore Regional and Red Bank Regional.

Did we forget one? Check: It's probably there.

According to a post I just saw on Facebook: "Right now WOLF HILL SCHOOL needs 2 more votes for a 4th gift card and MAPLE PLACE needs 22 more votes for a 2nd gift card. PLEASE if you haven't voted this week please do so now. The kids could use some stuff in the classrooms."
